February, 2008 - Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglizt wrote that the direct cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have cost U.S. taxpayers $3 trillion - not even including long-term costs such as taking care of wounded veterans. This  exceeds the cost of the 12-year war in Vietnam and is more than double the cost of the Korean War.  (read)
