DAVID ROVICS CONCERT Nov. 10, 2010 Cafe Bohemia, St. Petersburg, FL David Rovics put on a great concert for about 50 people in the outdoor courtyard at Café Bohemia on Nov. 10, 2010. Local musician Dave Shepard was the opening act. David Rovics is one of the most politically sharp and poetically gifted singer/songwriters around today. He deftly combines accomplished bluegrass-style flat-picking with politically laced, thought-provoking lyrics, using music to maintain a social movement. Traveling the world as a rabble-rouser, he tours regularly on four continents, playing for audiences large and small at cafes, pubs, universities, churches, union halls and protest rallies. His music has been featured on Democracy Now!, BBC, Al-Jazeera and other networks. He has shared the stage with many anti-war icons, including Amy Goodman, Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Angela Davis, Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Ward Churchill, Jello Biafra, Pete Seeger, Billy Bragg, and many others. He makes over 200 songs available for free on the web and over 1 million songs have been download. When it’s all said and done…David Rovics will make you laugh, he will make you cry, and he will make the revolution irresistible for us all. Enjoy dinner, a glass of wine, an ice cold beer, a cup of coffee or one of Bohemia’s many signature desserts, while dining alfresco in the outdoor patio, surrounded by titillating musical activism. |
