ABOUT ST. PETE FOR PEACE
St. Pete
for Peace is a non-profit, non-partisan organization providing peace
oriented educational events and services to the Tampa Bay community.
What do we stand for?
We are opposed to the U.S. occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, and
to U.S. drone strikes in Yemen, Somalia, Libya and Pakistan, believing such
actions create enemies.
We believe in economic justice for the homeless/poor/working class,
equal rights for LGBT, and that immigrants are not 'illegal'.
We stand against Israel's military occupation of Palestine, which we believe is a crime.
We also speak out against patriarchy, police and state repression, and
stand in solidarity with peaceful, non-violent revolutions in Tunisia,
Yemen and Bahrain.
What do we do?
Among other things, we organize and participate in demonstrations on
a local, statewide and national level (past actions). We have a free weekly film
showing on topics that raise social consciousness (past films), and a
website that is designed to inform readers of topics not accurately and
objectively covered by the mainstream media. We also have a Facebook page that allows people to connect and participate in what we do.
St. Pete for
Peace also initiated and maintains the website OccupyArrests.com, which documents arrests made in conjunction with the Occupy movement.
If you would like to be involved with St. Pete for Peace, we do not
have "membership" or dues, so come out and join us. If you have
any questions, or would like to learn more, please contact us at info@stpeteforpeace.org. |
