March and rally in downtown St. Petersburg on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 saying "Don't Bail Out Wall Street!".
Event sponsors included International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, St. Pete for Peace, the
Refuge Ministries, Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, Rise
Up Tampa Bay, Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty (St. Petersburg branch),
Green Party of Florida, Florida Peace Action Network and African
People's Solidarity Committee.
Here was the call to action:
Stand
against the bailout of the Wall Street criminals who created this
economic crisis while making billions of dollars for themselves as the
rest of us lose our homes and our jobs. They gambled with our lives and
the lives of people around the world and now they want us to pay them
at least $700 billion!
Demonstrate
Saturday, Oct. 4, gather at 10 am at Williams Park, 1st Ave. North and
4th Street, St. Petersburg, march to City Hall for a rally at 175 5th
Street North.
Democrats get Bush's bailout passed
HOUSE: 73% of Democrats, 46% of Republicans voted "Yes" (see tally)
SENATE: 82% of Democrats, 69% of Republicans (see tally) |
Protest Saturday whether or
not they pass the bailout bill on Friday. If the bailout passes the
House--all the more reason to make our opposition heard to this
railroading of our resources against our will!
It is urgent that we come
together to show our opposition to this bailout that is facilitating
the greatest transfer of wealth ever into the hands of the banks and
giving unprecedented dictatorial powers to the Secretary of the
Treasury! The underlining economic crisis will not be addressed or
improved by this bailout. This is a heist by the rich at the expense of
the people.
