Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

On
Monday January 21, 2008, St Pete for Peace, Veterans for Peace, The
Refuge Ministries and passionate and concerned human beings from around
the Tampa Bay area marched for peace and justice at the Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. parade in downtown St Petersburg. Trying to
drive Dr. King's anti-war messages deeper into people's minds by
raising public consciousness, many banners and signs proclaimed how the
war abroad is creating poverty at home and that the trillions of
dollars spent on war should be spent here. Our many anti-war,
anti-militarism and anti-poverty signs, banners and decorated trucks
were seen by the thousands of people lining the parade route. |
