Cindy Sheehan in St. Petersburg, June 17, 2009
About
150 people came out to hear Cindy Sheehan speak at NOVA 535 and another 125
attended her appearance at Cafe Bohemia. The Nobel Peace Prize nominee
discussed her recently published Internet Booklet "Myth America: 10
Greatest Myths of the Robber Class and the Case for Revolution".
It was an enjoyable and informative evening, and the questions people
had for Cindy during the Q&A added to the discussion. Thanks
to The Green
Bean Organic Market in Spring Hill, The Green Party of Florida, Women
in Black and others for your generous donations to the raffle which
raised money for Cindy, and to NOVA 535 and Cafe Bohemia for hosting
the events. And thanks to all of you for participating
and supporting Cindy's efforts. |
Event organizers: St. Pete for Peace, WMNF 88.5 FM, Veterans for

Internationally
known activist and author Cindy Sheehan will be in St. Petersburg on
Wednesday, June 17. Cindy has authored three books and was
nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize after the death of her son in Iraq
inspired the now infamous 2005 vigil at the doorstep of George Bush's
Crawford Ranch. Cindy will discuss her recently published Internet
Booklet "Myth America: 10 Greatest Myths of the Robber Class and the
Case for Revolution" at two venues in downtown St. Petersburg on
Wednesday, June 17. Both events are free and open to the
public.
The evening will begin at 6:00pm at NOVA 535 (located at 535 MLK Jr.
Blvd, N. - appetizers and full bar available for purchase) with Cindy
discussing the focus of her latest work followed by a book signing.
Cindy will then be at Cafe Bohemia (937 Central Ave., six blocks from
NOVA 535) from 8:00-9:00pm for a casual mix and mingle (food, beer,
wine, coffee and more available for purchase), followed by a question
and answer session with Cindy from 9:00pm-9:30 pm. Local
musicians will provide the evening's music. **NEW***
There will be a raffle of numerous cool items such as an organic gift
basket, a free massage, movie DVD packs, art work, and more, with the
raffle's proceeds going to benefit Cindy.
This event is being co-sponsored by St. Pete For Peace, WMNF 88.5 FM, Veterans for Peace (Tampa Bay), and Refuge Ministries. Please call Dwight at 727-864-1535 or send email to Dwight@stpeteforpeace.org if you have any questions.
Cindy
Sheehan began her anti-war activism after her oldest son, Casey, was
killed in Iraq on 04/04/04. She rose to international prominence when
she camped on the literal doorstep of George Bush's Crawford Ranch in
August 2005.
In addition to being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, she
has received dozens of peace awards from all over the world and has
published three books: Not One More Mother's Child; Dear President
Bush; and Peace Mom: A Mother's Journey Through Heartache to Activism.
Cindy recently published an Internet Booklet titled: Myth America: 10
Greatest Myths of the Robber Class and the Case for Revolution.
Cindy's visit to St. Petersburg is part of her tour with this
book to spark the dialogue and activism we need to separate ourselves
from oppressive Robber Class Systems.
